FILM MAGAZINE - MASTHEADS
I have chosen the name Bijou for my magazine as it is a synonym of the word 'cinema' and connotes hard work, being delicately worked and tasteful much like most films. Above are a variant of mastheads they I will present to my target audience to vote which one they prefer.

Weather Evidence
Positives:
When filming these key scenes for the animatic myself and Paige got a feel of where we would like to film at our location to get the best outcome for our trailer. We decided to cast ourselves in the production to minimize reliance on other people as we may need to plan last minute outings to re-film parts. As this was our first time filming I think it went quite well, we got good shots at the locations and were able to get everything done with no hassle. Shots show clear progression of the scene, varied shot types. After taking the shots in these couple of scenes we know what we want to create for our trailer.
Negatives to develop on:
At the train station we decided not to use the tripod which may have been a mistake as parts are shaky. As we are still trying to get more practice on the camera, learning how to focus and zoom etc some shots are out of focus however with a bit more practice camera work will get much better.
After filming and editing these key scenes problems were highlighted. Following these events we have decided to change our cast members Reece and Tom due to conflicting schedules to Nisha and Phoebe people who are willing and committed to our project. This may have hindered our production by about a week however this change has made our narrative stronger.

CAMERA WORK IDEAS
I think found footage recording has a greater effect on the audience as more emotion is presented. Above I have embedded the trailer for Chronicle(2012) which is a found footage film. This film is one of my favorites, It follows 3 mismatched friends who come together after experiencing weird happenings in a hole and gaining the power of Telekinesis. The Blair Witch Project and Paranormal Activity are also FF films and have been hugely successful. The found footage genre lends itself particularly well to horror movies, I plan to use elements of found footage in my horror trailer as my film follows young people and I think it will create more of an atmosphere as our film is aimed more to young adults I think a new popular route of story telling would entice the audience.

NARRATIVE OUTLINE: Rianne and Paige decide to go camping inviting Nisha and Phoebe their close friends, this will be the last group outing before they all head off to different Universities so they want to make it one last celebration they each will never forget. The group all meet at the train station and set off to Sutton Park; a notoriously known site for campers. On arrival the group decide to 'get the party started' straight after setting up camp. The weather starts turning, the howling of the wind is getting stronger on the break of the trees and the sky is turning grey. Uncaring about the weather they each take a pill downed with shots of vodka.
Phoebe notices the glowing eyes and starts freaking out because he thinks its moving, Nisha tries to assure her that it's all fine and just another one of the Ree's and Paige's silly tricks and she's just having a bad trip. Ree feels bad and goes to take down the prop as she does, something drags her in suddenly. Nisha and Paige start laughing and tell her to stop messing about. Ree's shouting that she's not playing around and that something has a hold of her. The three of them then grab on her to pull her out. Again a child's laughter is heard, followed by the sound of a whispering voice is calling each of their names from the darkness. Paige lends Ree a hand to get her up and asks her if she planned what just happened, Shocked at the accusation Ree erupts saying of course it wasn't her. Phoebe then steps in and starts having a go at the other two girls telling them that it's pathetic and that she's come to have a good time and that's what she intends to do, she storms back to their tent to take some more pills, Paige goes in after her to try and calm her down and stop her from taking anymore however she fails, without warning she suddenly starts foaming at the mouth and choking, Paige shouts for the others but its too late. She's stopped moving. In a panic the group all start screaming. Nisha goes to call the emergency services however she has no signal, she turns on his phone light around the tent to try to find what Phoebe had taken and finds that the bag of pills are red.
The three remaining decide they need to urgently find signal, Ree doesn't think its respectful to just leave Phoebe body alone however Paige and Nisha suggest its the best thing to do at the moment if they all want to survive the night. As they walk, they hear the laughter again followed by the winds howling. Shook, the group start to run. Nisha recognizes its the figure that was at the water pump earlier chasing them and tells the the other two to carry on running until they find a signal. The girls do as she says running away from whatever it could be, Ree stops as she thinks she can see Nisha hiding amongst the bushes, Paige and Ree call her name but there is no response. As the two get clsoer they realise it isn't Nisha and it isnt Phoebe, who could it be? The girls find the park ranger, dead. The two girls panicked and shocked they look around for Nisha. Nisha is no where to be seen. Panicking shout Nisha again and again they hear no answer. The girls then attempt to retrace their steps when they were running with Nisha, they find her phone on the forest floor, Paige goes to pick it up as she does she feels something drop on her head, blood. She looks up and Nisha is hanging from the tree.
Looking around for help, the two friends see the dark figure that has been terrorizing them all night. Scared Paige runs away to find her way out, thinking Ree is behind her however when Paige looks back, the figure is standing with Ree, Paige can see a silver object in his hand, startled and not looking where she is going Paige knocks her head off a branch and falls to the ground unconscious. Nisha and Phoebe then offer to set up the tents and then Paige says they'll go off to 'fill up the water canisters.' Unknown to the other two this is their cover to set up the pranks starting with Ree and Paige amateur-ly covering the bottom of the tap with tape so it will squirt out and soak the girls, they return to their pitch and tell Phoebe and Nisha the water source was unsuccessful. The boys tell them to carry on putting up the tent and they'll find water as obviously they will be more successful. They find the pump in seconds and laugh at Ree and Paige's incapability of anything, they go to turn on the tap but it wont move, both of them try at once - shifting it little by little suddenly a thick, red ooze shoots out of the tap followed by a child's giggle, freaked Nisha and Phoebe look around them and see a figure run away. Ree and Paige unknowingly are continuing their 'terrorizing' acts, cutting out eye shapes into toilet roll cartons and inserting glow sticks to create the illusion spooky eyes and putting them into the bushes. Nisha and Phoebe return covered in the red substance panting from running, claiming there's something out there. The other two girls tell them that they won't fall for their tricks and that it was them that rigged the tap. Nisha and Phoebe ask them how they got it to look like blood to which the girls give each other concerned looks but decide to go along with it as they think this is their trick. Nisha says that its all a pitiful yet hilarious attempt to try and scare them and to stop attempting. They all gather around the campfire and continue drinking and consuming drugs.

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
MY TARGET AUDIENCE
For most Thriller/Horror films the certificate usually at the lowest of 15 due to violence. Horror films interest young adults as they find the plots interesting, they like feeling the suspense and mystery. Males are interested in horrors s due to the action as they like to see something that gets their heart beating, and females are usually attracted to thrillers because they like to watch something that plays their heads, wondering what will happen next.
Questions I will ask my target audience:

- Can you see it being an actual movie you would pay to see in the cinema?
- In thrillers/horrors what do you expect to see?
- Would you included anything else in the trailer
- What category of horror films do you like the most and why?

OUTLINE IDEAS
GENRE: HORROR
I have chosen to research into psychological horror and a thriller as I feel these types of films have the most impact on the audience. When tension rises, so do their pulses.
The dis-equilibrium is the event most played out which is what I will try to show. The 'Norm' will be disturbed, leading to the main conflict then to the main character restoring the peace. These types of films are mostly shown through clear binary opposite of Good and Evil. To which the good always prevails but with consequences e.g. someone dies.
SITTING CLOWN
Jennifer is just your average teen with hopes and dreams of becoming the next Anna Wintour. She's very smart, responsible, friendly and comes from a stable home. The she babysits for Hans-Wilson's (David and Lisa) a respectable family with very demanding jobs; Lawyer and Doctor with 3 children (Micah, Elsa and Breeze.) Jennifer notices odd things happening around the house for a few weeks; things moving when no one is looking, heavy footsteps upstairs, loud bangs from the basement but lets it boil down to the fact that she hasn't gotten much sleep lately. One night sitting watching TV she feels uneasy like someone is watching her, the clown statue in the corner she hadn't noticed before. She calls the Lisa and requests to move the statue into another room, to which Mrs Hans-Wilson is alarmed and tells her they don't have clown statue and to get the kids and leave the house immediately and await their return. Puzzled and panicked, Jennifer can only find Micah and Elsa. She tells them to leave the house and wait on the driveway for their parents. Jennifer starts to check all the rooms armed with a frying pan as 'protection.' As she comes to one of the bedrooms she notices it is locked and barricaded and she can hear Breeze's muffled screams from behind the door. The parents return in a frantic state to retrieve Breeze from the room. After calling the police they are informed that the 'clown' is in fact a recently escaped mental patient. Dr Hans-Wilson becomes aware that the 'clown' is Daniel Craig who was a patient of his, Daniel believes that he wasn't actually crazy and David had given him so much medication that it changed him as a person and now he is out for revenge.
Jennifer - final girl
Breeze - princess
Daniel - villain
Lisa - dispatcher
David - False hero
PITCH
ISLAND DEMENTI
A presumed cursed island that has been abandoned for years is set up by united governments as a site for all 'unstable' humans, prisoners who have the sickest minds and mental patients with the blankest. Hannah Page is sane and far from a serial killer. She has been wrongly admitted to the island by director Clyde Decker - a narrow minded government hit-man. Hannah had been on his hit list for a while as she was spreading tapped government secrets on social networking sites. She wants revenge and to do that she needs to escape the island, which is far from easy. Weird stuff happens on the island including the fact that its filled with raging delinquents out to get her. She builds acquaintances with some of the islanders Rocco & Elijah in which she has to gain their trust and vice versa to get off Island Dementi.
Hannah - final girl
Decker - villain
her life back - princess
Rocco & Elijah - helpers

REPRESENTATION TASK IRON MAN
IRON MAN 3
Vladimir Propp’s
theory of characters having a specific role can be applied clearly in this film.
For example we can identify that Iron Man is the hero as he is shown in the
establishing shot. However, we can also identify that the Mandarin is the
villain as right after we are introduced to him, there are shots of
destruction.
TONY
STARK – Unconventional Hero
(40s, American, Male, White, High class, good)
Costume: Cool wear, t-shirt and jeans – pulls off the ‘no effort’ look well. As Tony he also wears suits that give him power as the lead character and also a typical male. As Iron man however his suits are ‘indestructible’ and again bring power however with the suits Tony practically becomes robotized which may represent his lack of emotion in previous films relating to the end of the film of him destroying the suits in order to become ‘normal.’

JARVIS – Helper
(Talking operating system created by stark that aids him
constantly)
HARLEY – Helper
(10yrs old, American, white, low class, good) Costume:
t-shirt, winter-coat. Naïve child however is smart in the sense of him helping
Tony out. Kind of buddying in the film, Tony isn’t the type to like kids
however over the course of the film they share a close bond and help each other
over come fears.
MANDARIAN – False
Villain
(50s, British Indian, low class, misinformed)
ALDRICH KILLIAN –
Villain
(40s, American, low to high class, evil) Costume: tailored
suits, slick hair, this reinforces his power and his rich business status.
HAPPY –
Dispatcher
(40s, American, working high class, good) Tony’s right hand man
informs Tony of Aldrich’s intentions with pepper. Body guard dresses smartly in
suits.
PEPPER – Princess
(40s, American, high class, good) Business woman, she dress
well and is Tony’s true love this is reiterated by him saving her and creating
a serum to stop her self-destructing.
Todorov’s Equilibrium
Theory:
Equilibrium: Tony
dealing with the events after New York (linking previous film The Avengers) suffering
from insomnia coming up with new prototypes for the Iron Man suit.
Disruption of
Equilibrium: Mandarin first attacks the Chinese theatre in Los Angeles then
directing attacks personal on Iron man after Tony calls Mandarin out.
Restored Equilibrium:
Iron Man restores peace and continues with normal life with Pepper with the
shrapnel removed from his chest.
Levi Strauss’ Binary
Oppositions:
Hero vs. Villain
Good vs. Evil
Iron Man vs. Mandarin
Peace vs. War
Good vs. Evil
Iron Man vs. Mandarin
Peace vs. War
Roland Barthes’
Enigma Codes:
Who is Iron Man after?
What is the Mandarin’s plan?
Why has he damaged the city?
What is the Mandarin’s plan?
Why has he damaged the city?
McRobbie’s Gender
Stereotype Theory:
Pepper (female) becomes the victim, stereotypical job as a
personal assistant. Tony/Iron man the hero, rich, big house, fancy cars.
Iron Man 3 is a certificate 12A; this means that the film
may be too violent for young audience. The demographic that the film is aimed
at is families, adult males and teens. Adult fans of the Marvel comics may be
able to connect with their childhood. Even young comic book fans would want to
see this film; this is because the story is based around the stories from the comics.
Teens will also enjoy watching this film as they have been brought up on a long
line of action packed superhero films.
The target audience for Iron Man 3 is males between 16 and
25. This is because males are most likely to enjoy the action scenes and the
futuristic technology. Parents may also want to take their children as they are
brought up on the comics or television programmes. Gwyneth Paltrow is an actor
that males find attractive and sexually appealing so the male audience may be
drawn to the film even more. The women in this film also have a lot of screen
time; this may anchor female audiences, although the Bechdel Test is failed in
this film Tony’s lack of self-competence is the main theme which is eventually
overcome.
